Lecturer II of Spanish
About
Natalie Nagl began at the University of Michigan as a Lecturer of Spanish in the Fall of 2018. Upon arrival at the University, she had six years of experience teaching the language in a variety of higher education settings. Natalie received a Ph.D. in Spanish language and literature in 2017, with her research including sociology and film. Other areas of academic interest include Latin American history, and dialectology. In addition to her studies, she has participated in several travel opportunities, ranging from a semester abroad to volunteer work with English as a Second Language in classrooms internationally.
Natalie is passionate about teaching, and appreciates the opportunity to share her love of language and culture with her students. She is constantly evolving in her teaching strategies, and enjoys acquiring knowledge of new learning tools to share with students. It is her goal to have the classroom be a comfortable, interactive environment. Currently, she has had the opportunity to teach Spanish 101, 102, 103, 230, and 231 at the University.
Outside of the classroom, Natalie thoroughly enjoys travel. She was lucky enough to spend a semester studying in Rosario, Argentina, during her Undergraduate studies. This experience sparked her desire to explore other cultures and countries, both near and far. With the wonderful variety of study abroad opportunities that the University offers, Natalie is happy to speak with students when they are interested in participating in one of the programs, as she is able to combine her love of education and travel in order to best guide them in their future endeavors.
