Lecturer II of Spanish
About
I enjoy teaching a variety of courses, Spanish 101-Spanish 280. My interests include the regional varieties of Spanish, Spanish in the United States, and bilingual education. In the classroom, some personal goals include the integration of cross-disciplinary themes, project-based learning and inclusive teaching. In my most recent course, Conversation through Spanish and Latin American Film, students participated in several projects, both collaborative and individual. Some examples include: podcasts, attending Detroit’s Cinema Mexico Now, student-led gamification activities, and a final interactive project with native speakers. On occasion, I have also had the pleasure of teaching Italian. My classes aim to empower students as they embark on their own language-learning journey, and equip them with the necessary tools to acquire language on their own terms.
