Internship: Film and Photography at Ankuri
What: Bonetti is creating films at Ankuri, a women’s empowerment organization in the foothills of the Himalayas.
Bonetti always wanted to go India, so when she came across a film and photography internship at Ankuri, a women’s empowerment organization in the foothills of the Himalayas, she applied. Getting off the plane from New York, she says, “was very intimidating. And I don’t speak Hindi, so I was interviewing people and editing film in a language I didn’t understand.”
What she gained, beyond conquering that challenge, was a greater understanding of her goals. “My internship in India really gave me a firsthand look into what my future could be like. I would love to make films on international topics.” Her advice for those who want to intern abroad? “Definitely take advantage of the LSA Opportunity Hub. They helped me get my visa, figure out my flights, and find a network of Michigan students in India.”
