U-M alums are often students’ greatest advocates. This is why we’ve been hosting Alum Connections to great success: in-person and virtual conversations between a small group of students and LSA alums across industries and identities throughout the academic year. Whether you’re a recent graduate or a seasoned professional, these one-hour sessions give students direct access to you, your knowledge, and your lived experiences.
What are Alum Connections like?
Alums usually start by sharing their LSA journey—how their liberal arts education guided them throughout their career and how they’ve put their LSA degree into practice. You might discuss how to advance in your industry, or take a deep dive into a challenge facing your field.
Questions like “how did you choose your major?”, “how to explore company culture?” and “how does identity play a role in your professional life?” often get asked.
LSA undergrads are eager to hear what you have to say, and we empower them to drive the dialogue. What you talk about is completely up to you, but the Alum Engagement team will be your partner through the process to ensure you feel informed and prepared.
How do I get started?
With the Hub’s deep commitment to historically underserved students, we curate Alum Connection sessions that connect students to the diversity of the alum network across identities, locations, majors, industries, and roles. The best first step to being considered for an Alum Connection is to join LSA Connect.
