Carly Keyes

FTVM ’16 graduate Carly Keyes spent the summer and fall of 2014 studying “abroad” in Los Angeles at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts where she took classes in Independent Feature Filmmaking and Post-War Hollywood Film History. It was through the USC job board that Carly secured an internship for the following summer of 2015 in Creative Development with Overbook Entertainment, the production company headed by Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and James Lassiter. Carly spent three days a week in their office, located literally at the end of an historic rainbow at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, reading scripts and writing coverage while gaining first-hand experience of what it takes to develop a creative property from start to finish. In the fall of 2015, Carly continued her internship journey by working in the Programming department for WDIV Local-4, NBC’s Detroit affiliate, where she aided in the production of regularly scheduled content from the weekly political talkshow, “Flashpoint,” to the annual America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
