About
Vastly informed by the theorizations on expanded cinema, Oğuz Kayır’s research deals with how sociopolitical and spatial configurations such as migration, diaspora, or exile shape women’s and queer people’s experimentations with artistic media in the Middle East. Employing critical and philosophical lenses, he aims to answer how these expanded forms of artistic modalities can be mapped in order to reveal the ways in which power dynamics operate in the fluid geographies of Middle Eastern artists. Prior to his doctoral studies, he received an MA degree in Media and Visual Studies at Bilkent University as well as dual BA degrees from the Film and Media departments of Istanbul Bilgi University.
