About
Coming from a video production and tech industry background, Grace Wilsey has long been fascinated by the process of media creation and its role in the modern tech environment. Her research often spans long time periods as she seeks to draw common threads between the aesthetic, rhetorical, and narrative qualities of differing forms of media – from novels, to films, to social media posts – and to analyze their historical cultural patterns. Her current research on the history of authorship traces the shifting cultural understandings of media authorship and intellectual property in conjunction with technological developments from the printing press to digital media today. She received her M.A. in English at Brandeis University and her B.A. in Film and Media Studies from UC Berkeley.
