Dendroscope is an immersive projected work exploring themes of the organic in an intrinsically digital form. Archival film footage is projected, and the color is modified using sound frequencies picked up by a microphone. The result is an unpredictable sequence of colors that is dynamic depending on minimal differences in sound. This work is projected on a canopy of mesh fabric, which the participant is invited to lie below. As the sound composes the light and color, the relationship between sound and visuals is abstract, yet vaguely determinable. The light falling through piece as well as sounds made by the viewers also affect the overall piece, immersing the participant in a full body experience.
