An Autobiography of You explores the contemplation of self-image through an interactive two-way live-stream experience. Participants engage with a leather-bound book on a table before them. There is a large monitor displaying an over-the-shoulder shot of the book on the table. On the monitor, the pages of the book reveal a frontward view of the participant in real time. The participant has paint and facial wipes on the table as well, which they are encouraged to use as directed. Once paint is applied to the face (or a provided mask), the participant sees themself dissolve away into static, distorting the experience of life as a medium. The space creates a feeling of being observed. But by whom?
