Joshua Schulze recently published the article “Green Screens: The Materiality and Environmental Impact of the Desktop Film” as part of a special issue of Imago. Studi di cinema e media called Media | Processes. Moving Images Across Interface Aesthetics and Gestural Policies. Schulze uses the 2020 horror film Host, which was shot entirely on Zoom, as a case study of digital filmmaking during the pandemic, reflecting on how the production provokes a reflexivity towards digital materiality, and how various kinds of labor are implicated as a result.
