The Women Film Pioneers Project, a scholarly resource exploring women’s global involvement at all levels of film production during the silent film era, has added eight profiles written by Professor Emeritus Richard Abel. One is devoted to Beulah Livingstone, one of the top publicity agents in the 1920s, while the other seven focus on early newspaper women writing about the movies, from the early 1910s to the mid-1920s: Gertrude Price, Scripps McRae circuit; Audrie Alspaugh (Kitty Kelly) and Frances Peck (Mae Tinée), Chicago Tribune; Genevieve Harris, Chicago Post; Virginia Dale, Chicago Journal; Harriette Underhill, New York Tribune; and Dorothy Gottlieb (Dorothy Day), Des Moines Tribune.
