Production faculty and artist Christopher McNamara opens two exhibitions in Ontario this fall. The first (pictured at left), entitled "Vivid Against the Little, Soft Cities," opens on October 14, 2023, at the Museum London.
Artist Christopher McNamara invites us into places of his own making. His excerpts of the human landscape—from chic mid-century suburbs to blighted downtowns and rustic railways—combine details from real places he’s spent time in with elements drawn and distilled from personal memories, family lore, and popular culture.

The second exhibition, entitled “'It Don’t Exist' – Imagining the City Within and Beyond the Archive" (pictured at right), opens on November 14, 2023, at AWE (Art Windsor Essex). Both exhibitions run through mid-February of 2024.
In this exhibition, Christopher McNamara selects works from the AWE collection to ruminate on the ways we consider the city in our dreams and in our daily lives. Evidence of past lives linger within the frames and outer edges of the works selected. McNamara’s own city dioramas and multi media works add to these reflections on urban life and the stories we use to both remember and understand our places on the map.
