Professor Matthew Solomon co-edited a special issue of the journal Early Popular Visual Culture on "The Golden Age of Stage Conjuring, 1880-1930" with Joseph Culpepper (Concordia University, Montreal). The special issue begins with a piece that Solomon co-wrote with Culpepper entitled, "Toward a historiography of stage conjuring: are we entering a golden age?" The article surveys the historical research on stage conjuring published to date with a focus on recent academic work on the topic, to which the articles selected for publication in this special issue together make a significant addition.
