Associate Professor Matthew Solomon and PhD student Vincent Longo presented their talk “Re-creating the Soundscapes of The Heart of Darkness” at the Great Lakes Association of Sound Studies (GLASS) Conference hosted by the University of Chicago on October 14, 2017. The presentation outlined the annotated open-source digital archive edition of Orson Welles’s unproduced screenplay for “The Heart of Darkness” they are creating in collaboration with Michigan Publishing, paying particular attention to the challenges of re-creating the visual iconography and soundscape Welles and his collaborators prepared for “The Heart of Darkness” in 1939.
