Assistant Professor Yvette Granata's interactive VR film I Took a Lethal Dose of Herbs has been selected to have its world premiere at CPH:DOX 2023 in the INTER:ACTIVE program, March 15-26, 2023, in Copenhagen. Granata's project is a hybrid VR documentary about postpartum psychosis and DIY herbal abortion told through the hallucinatory experience of a former anti-abortion activist – based on a series of anonymous Reddit posts from 2017-2020. The VR film features an original score by Alfredo Cabrera (PhD candidate in the Umich School of Music) and music by Montreal sound artist and co-author of the Xenofeminist manifesto Yoneda Lemma (Katrina Burch).
Granata’s project will be featured at the festival's main venue, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, with 16 other interactive projects and alongside a solo show by Turner-prize winning artist Jeremy Deller. This year's festival marks the 20th anniversary of the CPH:DOX festival, and for the first time, festival programming will be featured in 28 different municipalities across Denmark cinemas simultaneously. The program includes a world premiere of Wim Wenders' new film A Sense of Place, films by Oscar winners Asif Kapadia (Amy) and Chai Vasarhelyi (Free Solo), Oliver Stone's new film Nuclear Now. There will also be a unique live show by Nathan Fielder (HBO's The Rehearsal, and Nathan for You), and 82-year-old folk legend Joan Baez will appear to talk about her life as a musician and activist alongside the new portrait film, Joan Baez: I am a Noise, directed by Miri Navasky, Karen O'Connor and Maeve O'Boyle.T
