Alum Produced "Love and Honor" Premieres on Direct TV
LOVE AND HONOR, a recent IFC release, was co-written by Jim Burnstein, Coordinator of the Screenwriting Program in the Department of Film, Television, and Media, directed by Danny Mooney and Executive Produced by Eddie Rubin, two former Michigan students who met in FTVM 423, a course taught by Burnstein and Professor Robert Rayher. Producer Patrick Olson is also a Michigan alum.
LOVE AND HONOR tells the story of two young soldiers who go AWOL from Vietnam to Ann Arbor with the mission of one of the soldiers trying to win his girlfriend back at the University of Michigan after she has sent him a Dear John letter. It is set in the summer of 1969 at the height of the anti-war movement and the very week that man first walked on the moon. An army of U of M students, past and present, worked on this incredible project.
LOVE AND HONOR stars Liam Hemsworth (Hunger Games), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies), Austin Stowell (Dolphin Tale) and Aimee Teegarden (Friday Night Lights). The entire film was shot in Ann Arbor and its surrounding areas.
LOVE AND HONOR, an IFC release, will premiere on DirecTV on February 1 and on virtually all Video on Demand outlets on Valentine's Day preceding its opening in theaters on March 22.
