Sydney M. Sweeney is a junior from the nearby Pinckney, MI. She is an English and FTVM double major pursuing a sub-major in screenwriting and a minor in business. Sydney is following a writing and business-oriented path in film with the hopes of establishing a career as a screenwriter and producer one day. This year she finished her first feature-length script, King Campout, which she is currently rewriting in FTVM 410 with the hopes of landing a spot in 427, FTVM’s top screenwriting class. Alongside a few other FTVM students, Sydney is working to create a new chapter of Delta Kappa Alpha, the nation’s largest professional cinema fraternity, here at UMich. In her free time, she works as a barista and also enjoys reading, listening to music, playing with her dogs, hanging out with her friends, and, of course, watching movies. She will always recommend JoJo Rabbit and Shutter Island to those who ask. Sydney is extremely grateful for this opportunity to be a Mitchell Scholar, and she is ecstatic for everything that is to come this year!
