Global climate change is a massive research area with immense complexity, but the complexity of past environments does not simplify at smaller geographic scales. If anything, investigating landscape and regional-scale environmental records unveils greater complexity that ultimately brings us to question sweeping assumptions about the homogeneity of regional paleoenvironments.
In his research, Eric investigates landscape-scale climate change through the use of triple oxygen and clumped isotope on biogenic carbonates. Currently, he is working on developing the triple oxygen composition of Unionid (freshwater mussel) shells as recorders of source water composition and evaporation in ancient river systems.
Besides the fact that his last name perfectly reflects my research interests, other interesting things about Eric are that he loves jazz music, camping, video games, and thrifting clothes that won't fit in my already-full closet.
