We are thrilled to celebrate recent U-M Sociology graduate Jen Triplett for receiving the 2024 ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award. This prestigious award stems from faculty nominations and seeks to recognize U-M PhD students’ exceptional research and field-related findings.
Triplett's dissertation, "Shaping Subjectivities and Articulating Solidarity in Revolutionary Cuba," explores how revolutionary movements achieve their ideological goals. In fact, her approach “goes beyond the usual understanding of revolutionary projects,” and she reveals the “inner logic and tensions within the Cuban Revolution.” Triplett’s dissertation both examines ideological processes in Cuba and serves as a valuable resource for political and state project comparative analysis.
Nominated by select faculty and ultimately reviewed and chosen by members of the Michigan Society of Fellows, The ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Awards continue to recognize high-caliber research across multiple disciplines at U-M. Congratulations again to Jen Triplett for representing Sociology among this year’s winners, and we look forward to her continuous achievements at the University of Colorado Boulder!
