Grad Students Kayonne Christy and Hsin-Keng Ling Awarded the 2025 Rackham International Student Fellowship
The U-M Department of Sociology is delighted to announce that PhD students Kayonne Christy and Hsin-Keng Ling have been awarded the esteemed Rackham International Student Fellowship. This competitive fellowship recognizes international graduate students with outstanding academic and professional promise.
The International Student Fellowship is funded by Rackham donors, and recipients are competitively chosen based on excellence in scholarship and commitment to the university community. Each fellowship includes a financial award upwards of $14,000 that can be used as a stipend or for tuition, and it ultimately serves to enable students to focus on their research and empower them to achieve their academic goals.
Kayonne Christy is a qualitative sociologist whose research centers on migration and urban transformation. Her dissertation focuses on the transnational activities of Jamaican migrants and their descendants in Kingston, Jamaica. Hsin-Keng Ling examines the intersection of knowledge diffusion, cognition, and politics. In his research, he examines how information landscapes influence social and political dynamics.
Congratulations to Kayonne and Hsin-Keng for this well-deserved recognition of their achievements and contributions. We look forward to their continued scholarship in the sociology department and the broader U-M community.
