In the Winter Term of 2024, WOLV TV had the pleasure of inviting Emmy-nominated director and UM alumni, Mark Cendrowski, to teach students a glimpse of the ins and outs of production life. Mark, known for directing over 200 episodes of The Big Bang Theory, described to students an average week in the life of live sitcom television production. Mark also took students through mock tapings of scenes from shows like Call Me Kat and The Neighborhood. Selected students were able to work alongside Mark as they gave actors suggestions and got to look at different camera angles in a mock video village setup.
Additionally, in the Winter Term of 2024, WOLV TV had the pleasure of inviting Emmy-nominated producer and ESPN Films Senior Director, Gentry Kirby. Gentry discussed with the students the art of producing sports documentaries and his process of developing these stories. Gentry has helped develop numerous works such as 30 for 30, Becoming, and many more. Students were thrilled to be able to talk with and hear from someone so heavily in the sports film world.
