About
Michael Connors is a filmmaker and educator whose work as a director, writer, and producer has screened at festivals worldwide, including Tribeca, London, Seattle, and Austin. His films have received theatrical and streaming releases through Sony Pictures Classics, Netflix, Amazon, and Drafthouse Films.
He made his feature writing and directing debut with Allegiance, starring Aidan Quinn and Pablo Schreiber, which was nominated for the New American Cinema Award at the Seattle International Film Festival and for Best Narrative Feature at both the Austin Film Festival and the Hollywood Film Festival. The film was released theatrically by Phase One/Xlrator Media and later acquired by Netflix.
Michael co-created, wrote, and executive produced the acclaimed Wondery podcast Operator, currently in development as a limited television series. As a producer, his credits include It Ain’t Over, a feature documentary about New York Yankees legend Yogi Berra, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was released theatrically by Sony Pictures Classics. He recently produced Brothers On Three, a feature documentary about West Point’s national championship rugby team.
A former U.S. Army Captain and recipient of the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures Award, Michael holds a BA from Harvard University and an MFA in Directing from Columbia University. Prior to joining the University of Michigan, he taught directing, screenwriting, and visual storytelling at the American Film Institute (AFI) and USC’s School of Cinematic Arts.
