GSI Speaking Clinic

Offered in the Fall and Winter Semesters

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL USERS: ELI Clinic appointments are now made using the University of Michigan’s new UMStudy platform. Click here for instructions on using this system.

The ELI GSI Speaking Clinic provides Graduate Student Instructors (GSIs) with one-on-one coaching that supports them in their instructional roles. Participants are referred by ELI faculty following the Oral English Test (OET) or the completion of one of ELI's GSI courses. Participants may also be referred by their departments or other GSI's or self-select this service. No academic credit is awarded for GSI Speaking Clinic participation.

In addition to regular Graduate Speaking Clinic appointments, GSIs and future GSIs may schedule five (5) GSI Speaking Clinic appointments per term.

GSI Speaking Clinic appointments are availabe in the Fall and Winter semesters.

GSI Speaking Clinic Guidelines [IMPORTANT - Read Carefully]

Important Notes:

Appointments are 45 minutes in length.
Appointments can be made up to one week in advance.
Only one appointment can be made per week.
In-person and online appointments are available.

Cancellation:

If you cannot attend an appointment, you need to cancel at least 24 hours in advance. This makes it possible for another student to make use of Clinic time. If you cannot provide this notice, then you need to appear for your appointment. If you do not appear it will be counted as a no-show, and after 2 no-shows your account will be deactivated for the semester.

Eligibility:

GSI Speaking Clinic appointments are only available to graduate students who are future or current Graduate Student Instructors.
