Cary L. Mrozowski retired in 2017 after a 36 year career with Chevron Corporation, chronicled below. He currently lives in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Mrozowski is an avid photographer, hikerand golfer. He is a member of the World Oregon (World Affairs Council of Oregon) and the Oregon Historical Society.
During his Chevron career Mrozowski held positions across a number of Chevron companies. His role at retirement was Head Sponsor for Chevron Technology, Projects and Services, San Ramon, California, a position responsible for the internal selection of and professional development of managerial employees across Chevron’s world-wide exploration and production organization. Prior to that assignment Mrozowski was the Manager Strategic Staffing for Chevron International Exploration and Production (CIEP) Company, San Ramon, California. Before that he was the Chief Information Officer, International Upstream (Exploration and Production) with both ChevronTexaco Overseas Petroleum and the ChevronTexaco Information Technology Company. Mrozowski previously served as Manager, Information Technology for Chevron Overseas Petroleum Inc. (COPI), managed the earthscience workforce for COPI; and worked as Manager, CIS New Ventures (former Soviet Union); as Coordinator, Africa New Ventures; and as Head Explorationist for Amoseas Indonesia Inc. (a ChevronTexaco affiliate) in Jakarta, Indonesia. Other assignments have included exploration project management roles covering the offshore and coastal basins of southern California and the Sacramento Valley-Northern San Joaquin Valley of northern California for Chevron U.S.A and coordination of West Asia exploration for COPI. Mrozowski held a number of technical positions at COPI as well. He joined Chevron in 1981.
A native of Port Huron, Michigan, Mrozowski earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Oceanic Science from the University of Michigan in 1973 and 1975, respectively. He also was awarded a master’s degree in 1978 and a doctorate in 1981, both in Marine Geophysics, from Columbia University (Lamont –Doherty Earth Observatory) in New York. Mrozowski is a member of the Geological Society of America, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Geological Society of Oregon Country. He is also an emeritus member of the University of Michigan Earth and Environmental Sciences Alumni Advisory Board.
