The Department of Communication and Media offers many kinds of events, most free and open to the public. We organize and sponsor numerous lectures, workshops and conferences over the course of the academic year. Our programming covers a wide range of topics and features presenters from diverse disciplines and is designed to foster an understanding of the mass media and emerging media.
Introducing.....The COMMpetition, U-M Department of Communication & Media’s FIRST-EVER case competition--in collaboration with the student organization: Michigan Communication and Media Professionals (MCMP).
Student competitors will tackle a real-world communications challenge, collaborate with their peers, and pitch their creative strategies LIVE to a panel of industry professionals. Join us as audience members (5 PM) to witness this competition!
3:30 PM: Teams report to Rackham
4:05 PM: Hidden element is introduced. Teams react and revise pitches.

5:00 PM: Doors open to audience viewers and the case and judging panel are introduced.
5:10 PM: Team presentations begin.
6:20 PM: Judges deliberate.
6:30 PM: Professional panelists provide feedback.
6:55 PM: Winners are announced!
