About
Xavier is a joint doctoral candidate in Sociology and Public Policy. His research looks broadly at how legal and organizational structures impact gender construction in schools. His dissertation uses interview methods to explore two related phenomena: how teachers respond to mandates to implement state-level laws targeting transgender students, and how transgender students manage their identities in response to the laws.
