- What Will You Do with an LSA Degree?
LSA students must complete a minimum of 100 credits of LSA courses toward the 120 credits required for a degree.
LSA Credit and Non-LSA Credit Policies (effective Fall 2024)
- LSA credits: credits earned from courses offered by LSA academic departments and some approved courses in other University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) academic units (such as those crosslisted with LSA courses). Courses earning LSA credit are listed in the LSA Undergraduate Course Catalog. Transfer credit in LSA subject areas is also considered LSA credit.
- Non-LSA credits: credits earned from most courses offered by other academic units (e.g., the Stephen M. Ross School of Business, the College of Engineering). If a course is not listed in the LSA Undergraduate Course Catalog it earns non-LSA credit.
- Both LSA and non-LSA credit earn credit toward degree and honor points.
- Exceptions: School of Music, Theatre & Dance ensemble courses yield credit toward degree but no honor points, unless they are cross-listed with LSA courses.
