Looking for ways to connect with LSA? Guiding students as they think about careers, connecting with peers, and being interviewed are just a few of the ways you can engage with LSA. If you want to get involved in a way that’s not listed, feel free to contact us at collegeconnectionsprogram@umich.edu.

Networking and Mentorship

LSA alumni can grow their own network and give back to LSA students by joining LSA Connect. Alumni mentors can provide LSA students with access to social and cultural capital through purposeful connections and enriching conversations.

The LSA Community spans majors, industries, identities and experiences, and this unique platform brings Wolverines together from across the globe.

Internships

One of the ways alumni give back to the college is by working with their personal and professional networks to recruit for internships. Many of our alumni understand the valuable role internships play in the life of a student. Internships provide the opportunity for students to translate the skills they learn in the classroom to a professional setting. They are opportunities for students to learn about themselves and what they want in their future careers. In today’s ever-changing economy, a student’s internship experience plays an integral role in their future. Be an advocate for LSA students by hosting an intern or by connecting your employer to the LSA Opportunity Hub.

Who do I contact about hosting an intern?

Contact the LSA Opportunity Hub for more information!

What if I’m not in a position to host an intern?

You might not be in a position to host an intern yourself, but you may know someone at your company who is. We encourage you to set up a meeting with that colleague to share the value of hosting an LSA student for the summer through LSA Engage. Check out the Hub’s recruiting policy and important recruitment considerations for more information.

Who pays for the intern?

While LSA does not pay interns, the LSA Internship Scholarship is available for students with financial need. This scholarship allows some students to pursue a wider variety of opportunities, as barriers (e.g., high cost of living, low pay) to an internship are reduced.

There’s a way for everyone to give to LSA
