Marjorie Herbert Presents Work at GALA 17
Marjorie Herbert presented at the 13th Generative Approaches to Language Acquisition (GALA) in Palma de Mallorca, September 7-9. She presented elements of her QRP work plus an updated analysis of that data, in a collaboration with advisor Professor Acrisio Pires.
GALA is a biannual conference that brings together researchers from across Europe and overseas with the aim of communicating results from their research. It also provides a forum for discussion of recent, high-quality research on first and second language acquisition, bi/multilingual acquisition, heritage language acquisition, language pathology and language impairment, the acquisition of sign language and brain imaging research for acquisition and pathology. Language acquisition studies are central to building our understanding of human language and how it develops in the brain. The field has witnessed a continuous growth during the past three decades.
This year’s keynote speakers included João Costa (Universidade Nova de Lisboa), Anna Gavarró Algueró (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), Barbara Höhle (Universität Potsdam), and Natascha Müller (Bergische Universität Wuppertal).
