The Linguistics Graduate Committee is delighted to announce that PhD student Sophie Eakins has been awarded this year's Deborah Keller-Cohen Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. This $500 award is an early-career teaching award for Linguistics graduate student instructors. Congratulations, Sophie, on this well-deserved award!
The Department of Linguistics created the Deborah Keller-Cohen Award in 2018. Professor Keller-Cohen is Professor Emerita of Linguistics, Women's Studies, and Education, and former Rackham Associate Dean for Humanities and the Arts. In naming the award in her honor, the Department recognizes Professor Keller-Cohen's own stellar undergraduate teaching in Linguistics, as well as her profound commitment to training and mentoring Linguistics graduate student instructors.
