Wilkinson Gonzales (U-M Linguistics PhD, 2022) has just published a new monograph, Our People’s Language: Variation and Change in the Lánnang-uè of the Manila Lannangs (John Benjamins, 2025). The monograph, based on his 2022 PhD dissertation, provides a comprehensive analysis of language variation and change in Lánnang-uè, a contact variety spoken by the Manila Lannang community.

Wilkinson Daniel Wong Gonzales is Assistant Professor of Applied English Linguistics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Since earning his PhD, Gonzales has made remarkable contributions to the field, publishing over 20 peer-reviewed articles alongside his monograph. His research continues to shape discussions on language contact, multilingualism, and linguistic identity.
