Andries Coetzee visited the University of Georgia (UGA) on April 10. In addition to meeting with members of the UGA linguistics community, he also gave three presentations during his visit:
- UGA Fieldwork Group: Doing Phonetic Fieldwork
- Linguistics Colloquium: Language, Place and Identity in Post-Colonial Societies: Three Case Studies from Afrikaans
- Broader UGA community: Language Rights in Post-Colonial Societies: A Comparison between South Africa and the USA
The last of these three talks is based on the current offering of LING 780 (Language in Post-Colonial Societies), co-taught by Andries and Jessi Grieser. This talk was aimed at a broader audience, and drew participants from the Departments of Linguistics and Romance Languages, but also from other units at UGA, such as Education and History.
