David Marek's THAW OF THE DEAD Nominated for Multiple Eclipse Awards
David Marek's, Thaw of the Dead has been nominated for four Eclipse Awards in the following categories: Narrative Feature, Cinematography in Narrative Feature, Editing in Narrative, and Acting in a Supporting Role.
The Eclipse Awards seek to elevate content creators throughout Michigan by honoring their works through regional, national and international voting on entered works in film, television and on-line production and is given for story telling and production excellence in the production community. The Excellence in Craft Eclipse Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday May 3rd, 2018, in the McKay Tower Ballroom in Grand Rapids.
Marek's feature film Somewhere West will be screened as a part of the Unreeled Film Series at the Kalamazoo Institute of the Arts on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. in the KIA auditorium. Marek will be available for a discussion with emcee Katherine Mumma and the audience after the screening.
Somewhere West tells the story of Ian, a man suffering from a terminal illness, and his search for solitude and acceptance during his last days. This 2011 film is the first feature-length narrative film created by Michigan filmmaker David Marek. It has won awards from numerous national and international film festivals, including Best Feature and Best Film at the 2012 World Music and Independent Film Festival, and Best Feature at the 2012 Detroit Windsor International Film Festival.
