Maria Rossini's primary research interest is the transition from 19th century to 20th culture and writing in the United Kingdom. She is particularly invested in late Victorian and early 20th century writing with a special emphasis on modernism. Her dissertation project explores the emergence of "generational thinking" in the 19th century and how, though women were implicitly not included in the category of the "generation" at the turn of the century, women and their relationships with one another were shaped by it. A major figure for her dissertation is Virginia Woolf.
