Aleksandra graduated from The George Washington University in 2012 with a B.A. in Russian Language and Literature. She subsequently studied on the Russian Overseas Flagship Program in St. Petersburg for the 2012-2013 academic year. In the winter 2017 semester, Aleksandra wrote a seminar paper on Derzhavin and Oxxxymiron and never looked back. Her proposed dissertation topic undertakes self-fashioning and performative masculinity through specific Russian-speaking poets, performance artists, and rappers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Her research interests include Russian battle rap and hip-hop, mediated reality, and artists as brands. She has experience teaching Russian language and co-teaching Central European cinema. She currently teaches English 125 as a Sweetland Junior Fellow.
