Communication and Media Ph.D candidates Kristen Leer and Mel Monier have been selected as the winners of the 2025 Fans of Color Research Prize. This award, offered by the peer-reviewed journal Transformative Works and Cultures, recognizes works filling gaps in fan studies literature about racially marginalized and/or non-western fans.

Kristen and Mel's article is titled "'Since the moment pictures could move, we had skin in the game': Black horror podcasters as fans, critics, and creators" and offers data from interviews with Black horror podcasters as they contribute to a larger conversation about marginalized audiences' engagement with the horror genre.

Congratulations, Kristen and Mel!
