Dr. Sol Hart, Professor of Communication and Media and Program in the Environment and faculty associate in the Research Center for Group Dynamics, has been named an Arthur F. Thurnau Professor.

This professorship is awarded to faculty members who demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning, ecellence and innovation in teaching, and dedication to working effectively with a diverse student body. 

Hart's contributions to the Department of Communication and Media have included the streamlining of the transfer credit policy, instituting a new peer advising program, strengthening undergraduate research pathways, and the redesigning of COMM 102 to improve equity. These changes, among others Hart made during his time as the Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies and as a faculty member within the department more broadly, have helped provide opportunity to students, especially for transfer students and students coming from under-resourced high schools.
