Hang Lu, Associate Professor in the Department of Communication and Media, recently received the 2024 Article of the Year Award from the Communicating Science, Health, Environment and Risk (ComSHER) Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). The award recognizes his article, “I know it’s a deepfake”: The role of AI disclaimer and comprehension in the processing ofdeepfake parodies, published in the field’s flagship journal, Journal of Communication.

This annual award honors the best work published by ComSHER members in science, health, environmental, and risk communication. The 2024 winner was selected by a panel of past ComSHER heads, journal editors, and full professors.
