Dr. Ariel Hasell, Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Media, has been honored as one of the recipients of the 2025 Presidential Award for Understanding Democracy.
This highly competitive award comes from U-M's Year of Democracy, Civic Empowerment, & Global Engagement and aims to support up to five pilot projects from scholars across University of Michigan campuses for "transformative research and creative activities to enhance our understanding of democracy's operation and promise."
Dr. Hasell is being recognized for her ongoing research on the ways institiutions, including the press, are represented on social media.
