Communication and Media alum Peter Jaysen reflects on his experience as a lead producer for Golden Globe-nominated film "A Complete Unknown"
Ever wonder what Communication and Media alumni are up to? One of them was recently a lead producer for a movie nominated for two Golden Globes!
Peter Jaysen (A.B. English/Communications, ’89) and his experience working on A Complete Unknown, an upcoming Bob Dylan biopic, were the topic of an LSA Online article written by Gina Balibrera.
"A Complete Unknown is not the first Dylan film, but it’s the first to count Dylan himself as an executive producer," Balibrera writes. "Before signing on, Jaysen says that Dylan had questions. 'Bob wanted to understand…why now, what’s different about this one from other documentaries and films?' ... Enthused, Dylan read every line of the script, and joined the project."
Despite his success in Hollywood, Jaysen hasn't forgotten where he started. He returns to the University of Michigan annually as a guest lecturer for the Department of Film, Television, and Media. "'Returning for the guest lecture is my favorite time of year, no question,' Jaysen says. When he meets with students, he remembers his younger self, with his bucket on the Diag."
