Past Directors

For nearly six decades, the Residential College has benefited from the leadership of faculty members committed to educational innovation, interdisciplinary learning, and student-centered teaching.

Each Director has helped shape the College during a unique period in its history, guiding the development of new academic programs, strengthening community partnerships, supporting faculty and students, and advancing the mission of the Residential College within the University of Michigan.

The leadership of these individuals has contributed to many defining features of today's RC, including its interdisciplinary curriculum, intensive language programs, community-engaged learning initiatives, and strong tradition of faculty-student collaboration.

As the Residential College continues to evolve, each generation of leadership builds upon the work of those who came before while responding to the changing needs of students and higher education.
