Study Abroad courses that are often used for PitE major or minor requirements: Study abroad courses can be used towards most PitE major and minor requirements. Check the PitE Study Abroad Course Guide or meet with a PitE advisor to plan how study abroad courses will fit in your major or minor requirements. In most circumstances, the Directed Research courses can be used for Ecology Lab.
Process for approval: Meet or email a PitE advisor and check the PitE Study Abroad Course Guide before you go. If you've already studied abroad and you want to use a course for a PitE major or minor please reach out to a PitE advisor.

Funding opportunities: PitE has funding available for practical experiences. Study abroad programs may count towards the practical experience requirement if they are a field program outside the classroom. Check with a PitE advisor to see if your program counts as a practical experience. Financial aid and scholarships are available for many programs and the LSA Study Abroad Scholarship is also available to all eligible LSA students.
Next Steps: Once you've spoken to a PitE advisor, attend a First Step session where you will learn general information about studying abroad through CGIS. Once you've attended a First Step session, you can schedule an appointment with a CGIS advisor who will be able to help you through the application process and can address any of your questions or concerns in relations to curriculum, navigating your identity, navigating through a specific country, and so much more! CGIS advisors also offer open advising throughout the week for quick questions you may have.
