Vaccinations

All program participants are encouraged to make appointments with their family physician or the University Health Service (UHS) for a physical and to determine if vaccinations are needed.

Plan ahead to make appointments and start as soon as your travel plans are confirmed, preferably at least 6–8 weeks before departure, because:

  • Some immunizations take weeks to reach optimum effectiveness, and some are given in series.
  • Appointments are limited before peak travel times (December, before Spring Break, April and May).
  • You may need time to locate your immunization records, which you need in order for UHS staff to give you additional immunizations.

For details on how to schedule an appointment, visit the UHS Travel Clinic.

COVID-19 Vaccine

All students, faculty and staff at the University of Michigan are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which includes the COVID-19 booster shot. Students, faculty and staff must submit their vaccination and booster shot information by February 4th, 2022 or as soon as they are eligible thereafter. Thus, all students traveling internationally on a U-M managed program like CGIS programs are required to have an authorized COVID-19 vaccination series and complete the “Student COVID-19 Vaccination Self-Report Form” in Wolverine Access before traveling abroad unless they have an approved exemption. Students with questions should visit the Global Michigan page for more information on this University policy.
