- PLS 141: American National Government transfers as POLSCI 111: Introduction to American Politics for 3 credits
- PLS 262: International Relations transfers as POLSCI 160: Introduction to World Politics for 3 credits
What you will have to complete after you transfer to complete the Political Science major.
30 credits to include the following
- Two courses at the 400-level, or one 400-level POLSCI course and one ULWR POLSCI course.
- Within the prerequisites and 30 credits, majors must take at least one course in four of the following five subfields.
- Political Theory
- American government
- Jackson's PLS 141 will count for this subfield
- Comparative politics
- World politics
- Jackson's PLS 262 will count for this subfield

The Political Science major does not have specific course requirements beyond the requirement for subfields and the two 400 level courses. Therefore, a plan to complete the major really just involves completing the 30 credits, which can be accomplished by taking two classes each semester as indicated below.
- Semester 1: Two 300 level courses (to total 7-8 credits)
- Semester 2: Two 300 level courses (to total 7-8 credits)
- Semester 3: One 300 level course and one 400 level course (to total 7-8 credits)
- Semester 4: One 300 level course and one 400 level course (to total 7-8 credits)
Completing General Degree Requirements as an Political Science major.
- In addition to completing the requirements for the Political Science major you will need to complete a total of 120 credits and the General Degree Requirements. Transfer credit can count for all General Degree Requirements.
- Courses that transfer with the U-M subject POLSCI cannot be used for Area Distribution for Political Science majors. Therefore, Jackson's PLS 141, 262 cannot be used to fulfill social science distribution as they are listed on the General Degree Requirement Transfer Guide.
