The English Language Institute (ELI) offers courses, studios, workshops, and one-on-one advising to help international and multilingual students at the University of Michigan who speak and write English as an additional language to succeed at U-M and prepare for their career. ELI's small, interactive classes are based on the latest research on the kinds of speaking and writing students need to achieve their academic and professional goals. Additional language and academic support is available via our Speaking and Writing studio and workshops. All of this is offered free of charge by faculty who provide every student with a high level of personalized guidance and support.
The University of Michigan’s LSA Opportunity Hub is a transformative career exploration center for undergraduate students of the liberal arts and sciences. The Hub works with students as they develop their aspirations and professional identities, provides access to internships and funding to support those experiences, and connects them to employers and U-M’s extensive network of alums. The Hub believes in the power of a liberal arts education and designs opportunities for engagement so that all students can pursue purposeful work and meaningful lives.
The Language Resource Center offers resources and services to students in support of learning languages and cultures. These resources include free tutoring for many languages, conversation groups, free access to language learning apps, and an extensive video and print library.
The Math Learning Center provides free drop-in tutoring and free study group sessions for mathematics courses numbered through 216.
The Newnan Academic Advising Center partners with students in achieving their success and growth by connecting and synthesizing experiences inside and outside the classroom, co-creating students' academic journeys, and more. Beyond making sure that you meet all the degree requirements, the advisors can help you craft a liberal arts degree that builds on your strengths and launches you into new areas of inquiry.
The Physics Help Room provides direct tutoring, resources, and general assistance for students taking physics courses.
The Science Learning Center offers free tutoring and study groups for students taking 100- and 200-level science classes.
The Services for Students with Disabilities office (SSD) provides students with disabilities with resources and support across the University, including adaptive sports, study areas, academic assistance, student groups, and more.
The Sweetland Center for Writing supports student writing at all levels and in all forms and modes. Sweetland offers one-to-one tutoring for undergraduate students in our faculty-led Writing Workshop and undergraduate Peer Writing Center and teaches writing courses from the undergraduate to the graduate level. Sweetland provides support for all multilingual and international undergraduate students. Sweetland offers the Minor in Writing, teaches and supports new media and multimodal forms of writing, and runs the invitational Dissertation Writing Institute and Fellows Seminar.
The University Career Center offers support for students in searching for internships and careers and organizes multiple career fairs throughout the year.
