Are you wondering what the real transfer student experience at U-M is like? Looking for advice on the best way to prepare for the academic rigor at U-M? Wondering what the most difficult part is to transferring to LSA? Wondering about the best places to eat, drink, exercise, and relax in Ann Arbor?
The Transfer Student Ambassadors can tell you what it’s really like to transfer to LSA. Read about their experiences in their own words and if you have questions for them about the transfer student experience join them for informal conversations to learn from their experiences, get your questions answered, and pick up some great advice.
The Ambassadors offer three ways for you to connect.
Join a panel of LSA Transfer Student Ambassadors to learn more about the transfer student experience. The Ambassadors will be chatting about the academic transition to U-M, how to get involved on campus, housing, all the amazing programs and support for transfer students, and any other questions that you have. Join us even if you don't have specific questions.
Check the events page for the schedule. Registration is required.
The LSA Transfer Mentorship Program helps prospective LSA transfer students by pairing them with a Transfer Student Ambassador mentor. The ambassadors are excited to share their experiences and help you navigate the transfer process through goal setting, navigating the application process, and connecting to valuable University of Michigan resources. We will match you with a mentor who shares your academic background and interests as closely as possible.
Your first step is to attend an online transfer information session to learn all of the basics about the transfer process. You can then register for mentorship. We will assign you a mentor after confirming that you attended an information session.
You will be matched with a mentor who also transferred from a community college. They will help guide throughout the transfer process to make sure you successfully submit your application. When you sign up, the only expectation is to meet with your Mentor once each month and respect the guidelines that they establish.
You will be matched with a mentor who also transferred from a 4-year college or university. Due to capacity constraints, we are typically not able to offer ongoing mentorship for 4-year transfer but your mentor will meet with you one time to make sure you understand the application process and timeline, give you tips, and answer any questions that you have about the transfer student experience.
There are a couple of ways that you can connect with the Ambassadors one-on-one.
