You’ve picked up life skills. Had some experiences. Now, you’re intrigued by the idea of studying the liberal arts at LSA. But how does this whole transfer thing work anyway? Don't worry, we have you covered. The LSA Transfer Student Center provides multiple ways for you to connect with our staff and Student Ambassadors to help you through your journey.

The Steps for Becoming a LSA Transfer Student

Any student who completes college coursework in a regular academic term after they have completed high school will apply as a transfer student.

Step 1. Prepare to transfer

There is a lot to consider when deciding where to transfer. Follow our path for mapping your transfer plan for information on how to explore academics, student life, and to learn how your credits transfer.

Are you currently enrolled at a Michigan community college? If so, you can join our Transfer Bridges to Michigan program and receive individual pre-transfer advising, peer mentorship, and access to research and social innovation programs all while you are still completing your studies at your community college.

Looking for advice on how your credits will transfer? Check out the transfer guide for your community college to make the most of your time at your community college.

Have you served in the military? Military-connected students (active duty, veterans, National Guard, or reserves)  can Join Transfer Bridges to Michigan for military connected students to receive individual pre-transfer advising and peer mentorship from a Student Veteran Transfer Ambassador.

Step 2. Apply

Once you decide that LSA is the right choice, follow our instructions for submitting your application. If you have questions about the application process or want some feedback on your application essays, sign up for mentorship with the Transfer Student Ambassadors.

Step 3. Once admitted, make your decision.

Again, there is a lot to consider as you make the decision to accept your admission to LSA. The Transfer Center offers a variety of ways to help you including on-campus visit days, online information sessions, online student panels, and individual mentorship with our Transfer Student Ambassadors.
