The Political Science major does not have specific course requirements beyond the requirement for subfields and the two 400 level courses. Therefore, a plan to complete the major really just involves completing the 30 credits, which can be accomplished by taking two classes each semester as indicated below.
- Semester 1: Two 300 level courses (to total 7-8 credits)
- Semester 2: Two 300 level courses (to total 7-8 credits)
- Semester 3: One 300 level course and one 400 level course (to total 7-8 credits)
- Semester 4: One 300 level course and one 400 level course (to total 7-8 credits)
Completing General Degree Requirements as an Political Science major.
- In addition to completing the requirements for the Political Science major you will need to complete a total of 120 credits and the General Degree Requirements. Transfer credit can count for all General Degree Requirements.
- Courses that transfer with the U-M subject POLSCI cannot be used for Area Distribution for Political Science majors. Therefore, Henry Ford’s POLS 101, 102, 110, 111, 131, 135, 152, 155, 200, 201, 202 cannot be used to fulfill social science distribution as they are listed on the General Degree Requirement Transfer Guide.
