Prerequisites

  • Two Economics courses
  • ECN 222: Principles of Microeconomics transfers as ECON 101: Principle Econ I for 4 credits
  • ECN 221: Principles of Macroeconomics transfers as ECON 102: Principle Econ II for 4 credits
  • Calculus
  • MTH 161: Analytic Geometry and Calculus I transfers as MATH 115: Calculus for 5 credits.

Take one course for the Core Statistics and Econometrics requirement

  • MTH 208W: Elementary Statistics or MTH 209: Statistics transfers as STATS 250 for 4 credits

What you will have to complete after you transfer to complete the Economics major.

26 credits that include the following:

  • Core Economic Theory: 2 courses
  • Core Statistics and Econometrics: 1 course
  • Electives: 15 credits

Sample 2-year Completion Pathway

  • Semester 1: 300 level elective (3 credits), Econ 251 (4 credits)
  • Semester 2: 401 (4 credits), 300 level elective (3 credits)
  • Semester 3: 402 (4 credits), 400 level elective (3-4 credits)
  • Semester 4: 400 level elective (3-4 credits), 400 level elective (3-4 credits)

Completing General Degree Requirements as a an Economics Major

  • In addition to completing the requirements for the Economics major you will need to complete a total of 120 credits and the General Degree Requirements. Transfer credit can count for all General Degree Requirements.
  • Courses that transfer with the U-M subject ECON cannot be used for Area Distribution for Economics majors.  Therefore, Delta’s ECON 221,222, and 268 cannot be used to fulfill social science distribution as they are listed on the General Degree Requirement Transfer Guide
  • Quantitative Reasoning Requirement (QR). Multiple courses required for the Economics major will fulfill QR so you do not have to plan to complete anything outside of the major for this requirement.
