About
Wanting Ren (she/her) is a doctoral student in Sociology at the University of Michigan. Her research interests focus on housing inequality, urban sociology, and social stratification. Her prior work has examined the multifaceted effects of housing inequality on health across various contexts and timeframes.
As she continues her doctoral studies, Wanting intends further to investigate the structural and institutional dimensions of housing inequality. Her research will explore housing choices, barriers to housing access, residential experiences, and the role of digital platforms in perpetuating housing disparities.
Before joining the department, Wanting earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Guangzhou University and a Master’s degree in Sociology from Southeast University.
